Evgeniya presents poster at SWUC 2025

Evgeniya Anisimova, research assistant in the lab, gave a talk at the South-West Undergraduate Conference 2025. She presented work on orthorexia and the stomach’s response to foods from different categories. The term “orthorexia” is used to describe a tendency* towards or away from “healthy” foods, and it’s quite a new area of psychological research. For more info on SWUC and the Bristol delegation, see this article.

* When described as a trait, it’s often called “healthy orthorexia”; but when it starts to negatively impact someone’s life it’s sometimes referred to as “orthorexia nervosa”.

Evgeniya is looking for full-time research assistant positions! She is about to graduate from her MSci degree in Psychology and Neuroscience, so if you’re looking for an extremely capable RA, please do get in touch!

Evgeniya and Edwin at SWUC 2025

The work Evgeniya presented was part of a group effort led by Dr Maya Gumussoy and myself, and we expect to publish a preprint very soon!
